Katerina Lewis Rakestraw
Katerina is an Atlanta native and freelance performer and teacher of viola and violin. Katerina began her musical studies at age eleven under the baton of renowned string teacher Earl Kuutti. By 14, she was performing professionally, and by 16, she had started her own teaching studio.
Katerina received a Bachelor of Music degree in music performance from Converse College in 2007. She then went on to earn her master’s degree in Music Performance at Georgia State University. Since finishing graduate school in 2009, Katerina has performed around the southeast with many regional symphonies and worked for 14 years as the founder of one of the most sought-after string groups in the Atlanta area, Luna Strings. Katerina is now a founding member of The Atlanta Trio. She teaches viola and violin to students of all ages in the south Atlanta area and coordinates music for countless special events and community service opportunities. In her free time, Katerina enjoys reading, ceramics, watching sports, working out, and trivia competitions.
